

Kerim Akmammedov

A founder and partner of the law firm “Altyn Kanun”
Kerim Akmammedov is a founder and partner of the law firm “Altyn Kanun”. Prior to entering private legal practice in 2007, he worked in various state corporations, national banks and institutions of the government of Turkmenistan. In particular, he worked eight years at the Central Bank of Turkmenistan and two years at State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs. Additionally, he has worked at the Cabinet of Ministers, State Concern “Turkmenhimiya” and State Agency for Foreign Investment.
Since 1992, Kerim Akmammedov has been actively involved in the legislative process in Turkmenistan by participating in state working groups that prepared banking, tax, and economic legislation. He also contributed to drafting presidential decrees on these issues. For over ten years, he taught civil law and arbitration at Academy of Public Services under President of Turkmenistan
Kerim Akmammedov is a member of the Board of the Union of Entrepreneurs and Industrialists of Turkmenistan. He has published a number of papers dealing with the legal aspects of state regulation of the economy and the legislative framework for foreign investment in Turkmenistan as part of his private law practice at “Altyn Kanun”. As an expert, he advises clients on various issues related to energy, infrastructure, banking, finance, regulatory compliance, and other matters. His specialisation includes oil, gas, power, chemicals, engineering, procurement, construction, investment, and finance. In addition, he assists various law enforcement agencies in Turkmenistan government investigations, regulatory compliance matters, fraud prevention, audits, anti-corruption, and criminal law cases. He also acts as an expert for the government of Turkmenistan international arbitrations conducted under ICSID and ICC rules on behalf of the government.
